I stayed in this hostel for 4 nights (2013). Convenient for the budget traveler who is just passing through and looks for a nice comfortable stopover. Lub D has a “wow” factor for a hostel. It is just next to national stadium BTS line, which is very useful in getting anywhere and especially to the international airport. Its situated just next to the best shopping district in Bangkok. Jim Thompson house is a five minute walk. For me the location was perfect to explore the City. There’s the cool vibe that makes this place so special.
Check in time is 14:00 hours (2 P.M.) Check out time is 12:00 hours (12 P.M.) Dorms are very well designed for a backpacker. I felt super safe in this place ,as it is all secured with swipe cards. I was staying in the Ladies Dorm. It was one of the cleanest dorm I’ve ever stayed in with good air conditioning and very quick WiFi. There are computers counters for you to use and sofas for you to lounge on after a long day of exploring. Shared bathroom was modern and huge, very clean and had plenty of showers, toilets and even hairdryers. If you are bored there is a Entertainment Room with Flat screen TV with a lot of channels. Every Backpacker will be really happy with laundry facilities.
Staff is fantastic! They will go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. They could organize a night out and pub crawl for you and random hostel people, and its just the best thing, if you are a solo traveler. I made a wonderful friends there.
If you are flying to other parts of Thailand with budget airlines you have to go to Don Muang airport, there is no railway which goes directly to Lub D. What you could do is to take a taxi (around 160 baht – 2013). Taxi from international airport will cost you around 400 baht – 2013 (including toll and airport fee).
Only con: there is no elevator so if you have heavy language be prepare for that.
